Day 11 - The Giant's Causeway and the Drive to Belfast

Sunday morning and a great time to drive to Belfast as traffic was light on the Coastal Highway. Our first stop was at the Old Bushmills Distillery, the oldest licensed distillery in the world.

Unfortunately, we could not get on a tour in a reasonable time so we just wandered around and visited the gift shop for some trinkets and a sample pack. As we were leaving I encountered a friendly employee who invited us into the tasting room for some photo ops.

A few miles away was the Giant's Causeway, a National Trust preserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Other than the stunning seascape of the cliffs and water is an area of over 40,000 interlocking basalt 5, 6 or 7 sided columns somewhat like a giant interlocking brick driveway. There were walking trails down to the "causeway" and along the cliff edges.

From here we followed the coastal road most of the way to Belfast.

It was clear enough to see Scotland and England on the horizon.

We got checked into our waterfront hotel and decided to just stay put for tonight and had a nice but expensive fish and chip dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 15 - Dublin Day 2

We were a little tired after all of the city tours we have been doing so we tried to take it a bit easier today and kept it to 12,000 steps...
